About the treatment

What is MeLine®?

MeLine® Peel is an in-clinic and at-home treatment regime that reduces hyperpigmentation, under-eye dark circles, melasma, acne scarring and UV skin damage.

It works as a gentle chemical abrasive to help remove the top layer of dead skin cells, even out skin tone and decrease melanin production.

MeLine Peel is suitable for all skin types, and specifically treats the different types of hyperpigmentation based on your skin’s phototype and affected area.

A MeLine Peel treatment protocol involves an at-home regime and in-clinic treatment.

  • For 2–4 weeks prior to your first peel, the MeLine homecare protocol includes a morning and night-time routine with MeLine products, to stop 3 days before your in-clinic MeLine Peel.
  • During your clinic appointment, we’ll apply a clear, MeLine Peel mask that is kept on for 2 hours and washed off at home.
  • One week after your first peel you’ll restart your homecare protocol for approximately 3 weeks.
  • A second in-clinic MeLine Peel is scheduled for one month after your first peel.

Skin phototype is based upon how sensitive your skin is to sunburn and how easily you tan. Phototype ranges from I to VI, and is mostly related to skin colour; pale skin is phenotype I, dark skin is phenotype VI.

Skin colour is also influenced by the amount of melanin in your skin. Specialised skin cells called melanocytes produce two types of melanin, and different ethnicities produce different levels of melanin. UV radiation also increases melanin production.

Hyperpigmentation can differ between phototypes. For this reason, different MeLine products are used for phototypes I–III and phototypes IV–IV, making MeLine an ideal option for personalised hyperpigmentation treatment.

The active ingredients in MeLine target the production of melanin within the melanocyte. Dexpanthenol helps to moisturise your skin and stimulate the production of new skin cells, while essential minerals and bisabolol help to detoxify your skin, act as an antioxidant and reduce inflammation.

MeLine is appropriate for use on your face and other areas of your body affected by hyperpigmentation.

Within 48 hours of your first in-clinic treatment, your skin may become red and start flaking. This is normal and may last for a few days. Your in-home treatment regime shouldn’t cause any unwanted side effects.

You should notice an improvement in hyperpigmentation after each peel. Following the recommended at-home treatment regime will ensure results continue to last. Some people choose to repeat the treatment regime yearly, for long-lasting results.

During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss if a MeLine Peel treatment is right for you. Generally, MeLine is suitable for most people, however it’s not recommended if you:

  • are sunburnt
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have an active skin infection or inflammation.

Mild to moderate redness and flaking a few days after your in-clinic treatment can be expected. Therefore, we recommend scheduling your first treatment around any special events or social commitments.

MeLine and Cosmelan are both used to treat hyperpigmentation. MeLine can be used anywhere on your body, including your neck, chest and eyes; Cosmelan is only used on your face. Unlike Cosmelan’s mud-like mask, MeLine is a clear mask that makes it easier to resume your normal daily activity following application. Both masks can be washed off at home. During your consultation we’ll discuss the best hyperpigmentation treatment option that’s right for you.

MeLine is an effective treatment option to minimise the appearance of dark circles under your eyes if caused by hyperpigmentation.

MeLine Dark Circles treatment is specifically developed to brighten the sensitive periorbital area.

MeLine Dark Circle treatment includes an in-clinic session every 15 days for 4 sessions, followed in between with an in-home treatment protocol with MeLine products.

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads, pustules or papules. The controlled chemical chemical abrasion of MeLine treatment can help minimise acne scarring.

MeLine acne treatment involves a 14 day at-home MeLine treatment programme followed by an in-clinic MeLine Peel.

Solar lentigo, commonly known as age spots or sunspots, is hyperpigmentation caused by UV radiation from the sun. It most commonly occurs on your face, neck and back of your hands.

MeLine Spot treatment for solar lentigo involves a 14 day at home-treatment programme followed by an in-clinic Meline Spot Peel. The peel is left on for one hour and washed off at home. For long lasting results, we recommend using an at-home MeLine Spot roll on depigmentation solution twice a day for 60 days following your peel.
